Commencement of the Sethusamudram Project

Mumbai: ‘Ram-setu’ is ancient history of man. The Government is trying to destroy this history with the help of public money. But the icon of Indian culture will not be allowed to be razed down. Indians following other religions should also oppose the ploy of the Government. The above appeal was made by members of ‘Jai Sree Krushna Parisar- Premi Samiti’ in a press conference. Members of other voluntary organizations were also present on the occasion. Shri. Vishwanath Mada, the President of the Samiti said that the government is making use of public money to demolish the setu. Organizations like NIRI, L & T and T.F.R have said in their reports that the setu must not be demolished; because if it is razed down, the country can not be saved from tsunami waves, and marine life will get destroyed so also the ancient icon will perish. If the Government is bent upon starting the waterway for sea transport, it should consider one of the other routes recommended earlier, said Shri. Mada.

(In any other country in the world, such ancient ‘Setu’ would have been preserved and the Government would have taken pride to show it to the world as the first ever ‘Setu’ built in the world; but the egocentric Congress Govt. is trying to destroy the ‘Setu’ – Editor)
