Vadodara (Gujrat) : Pamphlets in the name of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) asking Hindu parents to be wary of youths from the minority community have started circulating on messaging applications in the city ahead of the Lok Sabha byelections.
The pamphlet states that it has been published and printed at Rajkot and also mentions addresses and phone numbers of VHP offices at Rajkot, Ahmedabad and Surat. While senior VHP functionaries denied distributing any such pamphlet in the city, they said that the organization had since the last couple of years taken up the issue.
The pamphlet does not mention the term 'Love Jihad', but it states that youths from the minority community were being trained to lure Hindu girls and crores were being allocated for this. It also gives a series of incidents where girls had been lured and the methods adopted to do so.
VHP south Gujarat vice-president Ajay Joshi said that the organization had taken up the issue since the last two years. "The movement is still ongoing and in the past we have brought out pamphlets on the issue. But recently, no such pamphlet was brought out or distributed in the city," he said.
Joshi said that there was a possibility that someone might have brought out an old pamphlet and was distributing it or a pamphlet had been wrongly attributed to the VHP. "We are not related to elections in any way. Our philosophy is clear that whoever works in the interest of Hindus should rule the country," he said.
A senior official in the city police said that while they had heard about the pamphlets, no formal complaint or representation had been made to the police. Also, he added, the department was tied up with flood relief and related work presently.
