Indian map denigrated in ‘The Navhind Times’

Ponda(Goa): In its issue dated 8th May 2007 of ‘The Navhind Times’, Goa’s leading english  daily, the States of Jammu and Kashmir have been shown as a part of Pakistan in the Indian Map. Complaints have been lodged with the police in 3 different areas in the State against the newspaper. Even earlier, wrong Indian map was published by the same newspaper.

In the said issue of the newspaper, news has been published under the heading ‘A Perfect Storm Threatens Islamabad’; wrong Indian map has been published. Certain parts of Jammu and Kashmir have been shown as part of Pakistan. Proud citizens of India have lodged complaints at Panaji, Madgaon and Hanjune police stations for making mockery of the Indian map. Police advised the complainants to go to their respective area police stations for lodging complaints.

On seeing the wrong Indian map in ‘The Navhind Times’, Shri. Arun Parulekar, a member of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) called up the newspaper’s office and brought the mistake to their notice and asked them to publish their apology in the following day’s issue for publishing such wrong map. The newspaper had earlier committed similar mistake in respect of Indian map. Even at that time, Shri. Parulekar had asked them to render apology. Some official from the newspaper office verbally expressed regret in this context.
