Hindu leaders demand Ram Sethu not be demolished

Delhi: Under the leadership of Dwarakapithadhishwar Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Swarupananda Saraswati, a mammoth meeting was organized on the Ramleela grounds for protection of ‘Ram-setu’. The meeting was graced by auspicious presence of Shankaracharya Jagatguru Swami Nischalananda Sarasawti from Puri, H. H. Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati from Jyoti peeth, many saints, religious leaders and 15000 devotees of Sree Rama. All saints and Dharmacharyas condemned the Government’s ploy to demolish ‘Ram-setu’.

Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Swarupananda Saraswati said in his guidance that if ‘Ram-setu’ is destroyed, the waves of Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean will bang into each other and the result will be terrible than tsunami waves. Different kind of species and plantations will become extinct. Crores of rupees are spent on demolition of the ‘setu’. Pulling down the ‘setu’ means the end of Dharma. The 40 miles long and 1.5 miles wide setu is a symbol of faith and concern for Hindus. Therefore, the Government and people must protect this setu. When we have to fight so much for construction of Sree Rama temple in Ayodhya, how much will we have to struggle for saving the setu built by Him? Swamiji also appealed that if the Govt. does not take any action towards preservation of the setu, all of us at our individual level should take initiative for its protection.

In his message, H. Sureshanandaji, the disciple of H. H. Asaram Bapu has said that there is such tight security around the ‘Bibi ka Makbara’ a tomb built by King Aurangzeb that nobody is allowed anywhere near it in the periphery of 300 metres. But the Government does not like to protect ‘Ram-setu’. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said in his message that if Ram-setu is tampered with, there will be crisis.

Highlights

* Before the day of the meeting, the media falsely published about cancellation of the meeting resulting in 25 % of the expected attendance (still there was attendance of 15000)
* One Mathadhipati insulted Sree Shankaracharya by walking away while Swamiji was speaking. A Muslim person present on the dais said that getting up in the middle of the speech of Shankaracharya is like insulting him.

(Anti-Hindu media should be boycotted for misguiding people on such a important event. It is so unfortunate that a Hindu has to be told by a Muslim person about how to behave with a saint. – Editor)
