HJS representation for cancelling award to Hussain

By Staff Reporter

Jalgaon: The Kerala Government recently declared the ‘Raja Ravi Varma’ award to the painter, M. F. Hussain. A representation was submitted on behalf of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to Shri. V. S. Achyutananda demanding that the award declared for Hussain should be withdrawn. Another representation was given against the demolition of ‘Ram-setu’. Both the representations were handed over to the District Collector of Jalgaon for forwarding to the Chief Minister of Kerala and the President of India respectively.

Paintings of deities drawn by Raja Ravi Varma invoke ‘bhava’ in many people, whereas Hussain has drawn nude paintings of deities and trampled upon religious sentiments of Hindus under the guise of ‘Art’. The Kerala Government is insulting feelings of not only Hindus but also of Raja Ravi Varma, by felicitating such an anti-Hindu painter.

The Central Government has decided to clear the water way between Bharat and Sri Lanka by demolishing the ‘Ram-setu’. Hindus have a sentimental value towards the Ram-setu. The demolition of ‘Ram-setu’ could also result in natural disasters like tsunami waves therefore the Central Govt. should review its decision. A representation to this effect was also given. Shri. Bhole Mama, a representative of BJP in Municipal Corporation, Shri. Sunil Mali, General Secretary of BJP for the city, Shri. Dinkar Sonawane from Bajarang Dal, Shri. Subhash Shauche, ex-municipal councillor of BJP and members of HJS were present on the occasion.
