Cases filed against 19 artists in Mumbai

Mumbai: Colaba police have finally filed cases against those 19 artists taking out a march in support of painter Chandra Mohan who has drawn nude pictures of Hindu deities. Mumbai High Court has issued an order prohibiting to carry out any kind of agitations at Kala Ghoda area in Mumbai.

Shri. Chandra Mohan has drawn nude pictures of Hindu deities and assaulted faith of Hindus. A few artists got together and formed ‘Mr. Chandra Mohan Committee’ to protest against the action taken by Gujarat police and staged demonstrations. Shri. I. G. Khandelwal of Lashkar-e-Hind made a demand with the police on May 24, 2007 to take action against the artists who had taken out a march violating the Court Order. Twenty days after lodging such complaint, police took cognizance and filed cases against the said artists under Section 37 (3) and 10 (2) of Mumbai Police Act.
