False complaint by missionary against a devout Hindu

Mumbai: On the false complaint lodged by a Christian missionary, Railway police filed a wrong case against Shri. Devang Bilakhia, a devout Hindu. Adv. Santosh Dube fighting the case for Shri. Bilkahia argued before the Court and brought in open, lies told by Pereira, the missionary and the police. The Court, therefore, rebuked the police official.

A complaint was lodged by a devout Hindu, Shri. Bilakhia with Mulund Railway Police against Simon Joseph Pereira for distributing handbills in a local train which were aimed at propagation of Christianity. Police filed an FIR against Pereira who later lodged a complaint against Shri. Bilahkhia on 29th May at Kurla railway police station. Police filed a case under sections 341, 323, 504, 506(2), 427 of IPC against Shri. Bilakhia and arrested him and produced before Magistrate at Railway Court. Adv. Santosh Dube representing Shri. Bilakhia in the Court, opposed grant of police custody. He pleaded that the case was filed by Pereira as reprisal and there was no need to apply section 506 (2) to that case. The Court also agreed and questioned the police officer basis on which the section was applied. Police had no answer and the Magistrate rebuked him that he should not commit such mistake in future.
