Pandharpur (Maharashtra): On behalf of Maharashtra State Hindu Mahasabha, an agitation will be started from the ‘Ashadhi’ pilgrimage for protecting places of pilgrimage. The places of pilgrimage are under censure for mismanagement, cheating and inconvenience caused to devotees so also their security. One constantly hears about problems faced at pilgrimage places taken over by the Government at Mumbai, Shirdi and Pandharpur. The said drive is undertaken taking into account the above problems. Hindu Mahasabha published this information in its circular.
The Circular says that the Government has called for public opinion on anti-Superstitions Act. The proposed Act will be discarded through the medium of public meetings. People will be given guidance on manner of protesting against the proposed Act. Representations will be obtained from people against this Act. The Circular also says that a public meeting will be held at Shivateertha on 15 th July to begin the agitation. The Mahasabha is going to suggest upgrading the place of pilgrimage at Pandharpur to international standards.
