The Allahabad high court on Wednesday issued notice to makers of the film Haider and Censor Board on a PIL seeking direction to restrain exhibiting of the movie in any cinema hall or through any other means on the grounds that it was against national interest. The order was passed by the Lucknow bench of the court comprising justices V K Shukla and B K Srivastava on the PIL filed by Hindu Front for Justice, a group of local lawyers.
The court issued notice to Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures Pvt Ltd, director and producer Vishal Bhardwaj, co-producer Siddharth Roy Kapur and co-writer Basharat Peer to file their reply to the allegations made by the petitioner in four weeks.
Union of India through Secretary Information and Broadcasting, UP government through principal secretary (home), Board of Film Certification, Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures Private Ltd, director, producer and script writer Vishal Bhardwaj, the co-producer, the co-writer, actors Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and district magistrate Lucknow have been made the opposite party in the PIL.
The petitioners alleged that Haider harmed the sovereignty, integrity and unity of India and no film could be displayed which harms national interest.
They alleged that religious feelings of Hindus have been hurt as Shahid Kapoor and his associates were seen dancing with footwear at the Martand Sun Temple in the song Bismil.
The petition also alleged that the film has been picturized in a manner as if the Indian Army has committed atrocities on Kashmiris. The petitioners have requested the court to issue directions quashing the order granting certificate for exhibiting the film.
They also urged the court to issue directions commanding the central and the state government to initiate appropriate criminal proceeding against the director, producers, script writers and actors, who they alleged were liable for committing the acts of sedition.
The court directed that the case be listed after four weeks.

Dismiss the Censor Board that approves movies with anti-India separatist sentiments !
We also appeal patriots to file case of treason against director, producers and actors for defaming Indian Army and to file case of defamation for desecrating Martand Mandir
Mumbai : Kashmir, which is an integral part of Bharat has been reduced to a debatable issue by the Pakistan Government and with its support, few separatist elements in Kashmir. Recently, Modi Government has declared that it would not hold talks with its Pakistan counterpart since latter have held talks with the separatist elements in Kashmir. However, the Censor Board has committed an anti-national act by approving ‘Haider’ film, which displays sympathy towards these separatist elements and contempt towards martyrs of Bharatiya Army in Kashmir. The film depicts that Bharatiya Army commits atrocities on the separatist elements. Similarly, the song “Bismil’ has been shot in the background of Shri Martand temple, a seat of pride for Hindus. Most of the artists including those playing lead roles in the film are shown to be dancing with their footwear. Similarly, a statue of a devil is shown standing on the entry door of the temple. Would the director of the film dare to shoot a song with ‘Shriram’ words in the background of Jama mosque ? Therefore, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti demands that immediate ban should be imposed on the film, which insults Bharatiya Army, supports separatist elements and causes contempt of Hindus’ seat of pride, and dismiss the Censor Board, which approves such anti-national films.
The film also depicts many anti-Bharat scenes such as lead actor identifying the city of “Anantnag’ in Kashmir as ‘Islamabad’ (Pakistani name) in presence of the Army, when a question is raised before a crowd of Kashmiri people ‘What do you want ?’, their response is shown as ‘Freedom !’. How can such scenes be depicted when Kashmir is an integral part of Bharat ? Therefore, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti demands that an offence of sedition should be registered against the producer, director and actors of the film.
While the shooting of this film was in progress, separatist students of Kashmir university had created disorder due to hoisting of National Flag on the sets of the film, and thus, the shooting had to be suspended. It is very unfortunate that the film supports such separatist elements. The film is silent over the the atrocities committed by Muslim terrorists such as displacement of 4.5 lakh Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir in the year 1990, killed several of them, raped their women etc. The soldiers of Bharatiya Army saved lives of lakhs of Kashmiri Muslim victims of recent floods without bothering about their own lives, despite consistent stone-pelting and assaults being carried out on these soldiers. Has the director and the Censor Board forgotten this ? Samiti will also lodge a complaint in this regard with the Department of Information and Broadcasting of Union Government.
