HJS protests demanding ‘Ban on Cow Slaughter’ immediately and promptly closing all legal and illegal abattoirs

Karwar (Karnataka) : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti under the Rashtriya Hindu Andolan held a severe protest at Shivaji park, Karwar today against  banning of cow slaughtering in Bharat. Protestors raised slogans against cow slaughtering in this divine land where Cow is worshiped as  “Gomata“.

Talking on the occasion, VHP District Convenor Shri. B.G Mohan said that – “it is the duty of every citizen to save our mother who gave birth to us and mother Bharat mata  and Gomata who feed and protect us.”

Social worker Shri Manohar Naik  said that – “Fanatics feel happy in seeing cow slaughter but we Hindus feel hurt and it is the right of every citizen to bring ban on cow slaughter.”

Talking on the occasion, HJS activist Shri Ramesh Nayak said that,  “Even Mahatma Gandhi had demanded a ban on cow slaughter. Similarly, in other religions also, there is no stipulation of cow slaughter; despite this, cow slaughter is going on rampantly, and beef is smuggled. Maharashtra Legislature passed the law to ban the cow slaughter in 1995 and sent to President of India for his concurrence. It is still gathering dust in his office. Even though 19 years have since elapsed, the President has not yet signed it. Other states also have the law of cow slaughter ban; however, it is not implemented there effectively.”

Andolan raised following demands to the Central government

1. The Central Government should immediately enact a law to ban cow slaughter throughout Bharat, and all the legal and illegal abattoirs should be closed down without further loss of time.

2.  Consumption of beef should be considered as a national and religious offence, and import and sale of  beef should be made a punishable offence.

3. Procreation, import and rearing of cows of foreign breed, etc. should be banned in Bharat.

4. A ‘National Commission’ should be established to encourage production of products from Panchagavya (Milk, curd, ghee, dung and urine of a cow), research on cow rearing and spread of cow lineage. The Commission should have constitutional status.

5. Provision of ‘Cow Lineage Growth Fund’ should be made in the budget for giving subsidy to every Goshala (Cow-rearing sheds) in the country.

6. With the objective that the future generation should understand the religious, social, agricultural, Ayurvedic and economic importance of the cow, necessary lessons may be included in the curricula of preliminary and secondary schools.

7. Subsidy being given for export of beef should be discontinued forthwith.

8. To avoid sale of aged cows, grant should be given to farmers who can take care of aged cows. Similarly, cow sanctuaries should be established.

Memorandum was handed over to the Honourable Prime Minister of Bharat Shri Narendra Modi through Deputy Commissioner of Uttarakannada.

Present on the occasion were – Sri B.S.Pai State convenor for Hindu Jagran Vedike, Sri B.G. Mohan of VHP, Sri Anmol district president GoRaksha Dal, Shri Manohar Naik, HJS activist Sri Ramesh Nayak, Sri Sagar kurdekar, and Sanathan sanstha Seekers Sou Sandhya Andare, Sri Nagaram Chowdary, Sri Vishweshwar kalli and many others where present.
