Pandharpur (Maharashtra): Shri. Vilasrao Deshmukh, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra stated that the Maharashtra eradication of Black Magic and Devil and Aghori Practices, Bill 2005 will be applicable to all religions. A press conference was held at the Govt. Rest House after he performed puja at Sree Vitthal- Rakhumai temple. The Chief Minister said that some of the ambiguous words, that can be interpreted different ways, will be omitted from the Bill. When the CM was asked about the agitation of Warakaris at Vakhari protesting against anti-superstitions Act, the proposed Temple take-over Act and lack of amenities in undertaking pilgrimage / ‘Waari’, the CM said that the anti-superstitions Act will not eradicate faith and a detailed discussion needs to be held on the Act.
The CM said further that religious sentiments of followers of none of the religions will be hurt as the Government is secular and respects all religions. The Act is therefore, not anti-Hindus.
(How such ambiguous Bill was drafted in the first place? Why the Govt. did not consult the concerned sections of the society viz. saints, religious leaders or knowledgeable persons from spiritual field etc.? Why Hindus were made to agitate? Shri. Deshmukh must answer these questions! – Editor)
