Anti-faith bill: Ministers should Reply our letter or sit at home!

Updates:

Chalisgaon (Maharashtra): “Maharashtra Government made a promise that the Act for taking over management of temples would not be passed, therefore, I stopped hunger strike; but the Govt. is yet to advise us anything in writing. If the minister has no time to reply to a letter of a Dharmaguru or if the minister feels that he is not capable to answer, then it is better that he sits at home. If no assurance is received, in writing, thousands of devotees in Maharashtra will go on ‘hunger strike’ from 15th August and the Government would be solely responsible.” The above warning was given by Pujya Shri. Bhuvanaratna Vijayaji Maharaj, a pravachankar Ganivarya at Jain Mandir today.

In his circular, he has said that the State Government is planning to take over mutts and temples in Maharashtra; further there are a few controversial clauses in the anti-Superstitions Bill which can hurt religious sentiments of devotees. He had, therefore, started hunger strike against the two Acts from 20th July; but Shri. Sharad Patil, MLA informed through a fax and a letter on 26th July that no such Act was going to be discussed during the monsoon session. It was published in ‘Maharashtra Times’ that the State Chief Minister had promised that both the Acts would be reviewed. He said that he was expecting reply from the Government.

Govt. double standards: does not accept letters on anti-faith bill

July 31, 2007

Latur (Maharashtra): Some of the anti-Hindu persons are trying to get anti-superstitions Act passed to prevent Hindus from observing their customs and performing rituals as prescribed by the Dharma. Devout Hindus are therefore, strongly opposing the above Act. The State Government referred the matter to Joint Review Committee considering increasing opposition from people to the said Act. Time limit of 30th July was set for people to send their opinions on the Act. People therefore, started sending letters to the Government; but citing the excuse of ongoing session of the Legislative Assembly and letters not being accepted in Vidhan Bhavan, letters were not accepted and “Professional Couriers”, through whom the letters were sent, have returned the letters to the senders. People have therefore, expressed their displeasure over the issue.

(On one hand, the Govt. is seeking public opinion and on the other hand, it is returning letters sent by public. It is an indication of Govt.’s lack of seriousness and sincerity in obtaining public opinion. People have to teach a lesson to such Govt. – Editor)
