Are we the Children of a Sexy Motherland??

You don’t remember your mother as a sexy siren only, do you?. Because as a mother she must have played many other important roles to bring you up. You certainly don’t refer to your mother’s past/present sexiness when greeting her on her 61st birthday, do you?

But then should you use words like ‘sexy’ while describing your motherland?  Because motherland is also a much revered place not to be trivialised in such an objectionable manner. Are we the children of a Sexy Motherland??

How do you feel if some one describes your mother as "STILL SEXY AT 60"? I would take strong objection to that and hit back immediately. Because mother is still a precious word for most of us. I feel majority of people will agree with me.

I also feel the same strong sense revolt when some one uses such objectionable terms against my motherland. This  exactly was the feeling came to me when I saw the August 15, 2007 Times of India, Kolkata Edition. The headline used in celebrating 60 years of Independence reads "STILL SEXY AT 60".

I don’t understand how come some idiot choose the above words to describe our motherland and how come another idiot consented to use of such words, that to on the front page.Coming this from a supposedly respectable News paper like Times of India it defies logic & sense.

It certainly shows how the value systems and traditions got skewed up and some people perceive all things in a very narrow sense of sex and sensationalism.

These words were used not once but twice in the last week the other one being in the August 12, 2007 Times of India, Kolkata Edition.

Our motherland certainly demands much respect and maturity when her children present her to others in the world.

I have immediately lodged a strong protest with Times of India people in their web site.

I feel it is the duty of all concerned to lodge protest with Times of India which will bring the much desired sobering effect in the realm of public reporting.

(In a country where an artist like Husain who draws nude, vulgar pictures of Mother India and sells them worldwide is honoured by so-called impotent politicians where is the chance of action against a reputed daily ? It is lack of patriotism in Indians which has led to this situation .We applaud Shri Mohapatra who immediately lodged a protest against the daily  and also created awareness among other Indians. India needs such patriotic citizens ! – Editor )
