HJS demands quick decision on denigration of national flag

Mumbai (Maharashtra): On the occasion of Independence Day, ‘Protection of Nation’ drive was undertaken in association with ‘Dharmajagruti Prabodhini’ and other organizations. The drive received a very good response from people. Many nationalistic citizens expressed their views that the Government should take quick decision on the demand made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to impose ban on sale of national flags made of paper and plastic to prevent denigration and the decision should be taken before Republic Day.

Various campaigns undertaken under the above drive

  1. At flower market in Dadar, a person had wrapped the flag around his head. He was explained about denigration of flag but he refused to remove it. When Shri. Rajesh Shelar, a member of HJS from Kandivali warned him that a complaint would be registered with the police, he removed the flag immediately.  
  2. There were 5 flags in the office where Mrs. Koli works. The flags were not in good condition so she took them out and later immersed them in water.
  3. Sanatan Sanstha’s seekers explained about denigration of national flags to 300 students from Vijay Classes at Jogeshwari. As a result, none of them bought a flag and they even prevented their parents from buying. These students collected nearly 125 flags lying on the roads and immersed them in water.
  4. In Maharashtra College at Goregaon, 175 students were explained about misuse of flags.
  5. Five seekers of Sanatan Sanstha from Borivali went to stall-owners selling flags and explained to them about denigration of flags.  Mrs. Prajakta Sawant, a teacher from Kajupada Municipal School in Kurla explained to 18 students about mockery of national flag who in turn, told people from Kurla – Kamani area about the denigration. They also picked up 183 flags thrown on the roads. 
  6. Mrs. Gangadhare and Shri. Suhas Nagavekar from Mulund put up pamphlets regarding misuse of flags on the notice boards of their housing societies.
  7. Shri. Satpute from Navi Mumbai fixed a collection box to his bicycle which he called ‘National Flags Immersion Box’ and collected many flags thrown on the roads.
  8. National flag was flown in an upside down direction opposite Wadala Police station. Shri. Giramkar from Sanpada tried to enlighten the concerned persons about denigration of flags. 
  9. Sanatan Sanstha’s seekers guided about 1100 students from 3 private coaching classes on national flag code. They conducted quiz on the topic. People were also made aware by displaying banners and posters on roads. 32 immersion boxes were kept for collection of flags.
