- Seminar on ‘Raja Ravi Verma award to Hussian’ at Ernakulam (27 Aug 07)
Ernakulam: Anti-Hindu painter M F Hussain has drawn obscene and nude pictures of Hindu deities. Thousands of Hindus have protested against Hussain for the same. Shri. Rahul Ishwar, the grandson of the Head Priest at Sabrimalai temple and a well-known compere on televison channels demanded that M F Hussain should be punished in such manner that henceforth, nobody would dare to make mockery of and denigrate Hindu deities.
Kerala Government has declared ‘Raja Ravi Varma’ award to anti-Hindu painter Hussain. Devout Hindus are opposing the decision of the Government. In this background, recently a seminar was organized to discuss about presenting Raja Ravi Varma award to M F Hussain. Shri. I. R. Varma, cartoonist, Shri. R. K. Babu of ‘Hindu Aikya Vedika’, Shri. Rahul Ishwar, representing media and Shri. Sudish Puthalat of HJS took part in this discussion session. A resolution was passed in this session by the prominent participants and members of audience demanding withdrawal of the award conferred on M F Hussain.
Shri. I R Varma said, “Anti-Hindu painter M F Hussain has misused the right of freedom of expression and therefore, Kerala Government should withdraw the award declared for Hussain.” Shri. R. K. Babu said, “Kerala Government has insulted Raja Ravi Varma by presenting such award to M F Hussain who has hurt religious sentiments of all Hindus by drawing such paintings. Shri. Sudish Puthalat of HJS said, “There are 1250 cases filed against M F Hussain for drawing nude paintings of Hindu deities. This Government has banned notebooks with picture of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on complaint of one Muslim and confiscated all notebooks. The leftist Government taking prompt action on complaint of a single Muslim is giving step-motherly treatment to Hindus giving the excuse of avoiding religious rift. Now Hindus have to come together and fight to change the anti-Hindu policies of the Government.”

People all over the country were enraged to hear the news of Kerala Govt. conferring Raja Ravi Varma award on M F Hussain. It is most inappropriate of Kerala Govt. to confer such award on Hussain.
Detail about the Award
Kerala Government has been conferring Raja Ravi Varma Award for the past few years to artists whose contribution is significant to the field of Art. This year, the said award comprising cash prize of Rs.1,25,000/- and a medal has been declared for anti-Hindu painter M. F. Hussain. The announcement to this effect was made by Shri. M. A. Baby, the Educational and Cultural Minister of Kerala State.
Difference between great Raja Ravi Varma and anti-Hindu Hussain painting
Paintings of deities drawn by Raja Ravi Varma are very ‘sattvik’ and awaken ‘bhava’ in viewers whereas Hussain has drawn nude paintings of deities and trampled religious sentiments of Hindus under the guise of ‘Art’. Kerala Government is insulting feelings of not only all Hindus but also of Raja Ravi Varma by felicitating such anti-Hindu painter. There have been thousands of complaints lodged and cases filed in various Courts against Hussain all over the country for denigrating Hindu deities.
M. F. Hussain, the anti-Hindu Painter has drawn nude and indecent pictures of Hindu deities and Mother India and has played with the feelings of Hindus. Paintings drawn by Hussain of his mother and sister have been shown fully clad whereas it was a deliberate move of Hussain to draw Hindu deities in such manner and insult Hindu Dharma.
