Miracle at Tirumala : Shri Balaji Restores Speech to Dumb Youth

Tirumala (Tirupati) : It is believed that Shri Venkateswara/ Balaji of Tirumala showers different kinds of boons on His ardent devotees. Thus, on Saturday, He showered an unusual boon on an 18- year-old dumb devotee named Deepak by restoring his speech.

Deepak, who has been dumb since his birth, uttered a few words as soon as he swallowed the ‘teertham’ (holy water) offered to him by the priest of the Vakulamatha temple, one of the sub-temples of the Tirumala temple, adjacent to the sanctum-sanctorum. When he called out his mother ‘Amma’ and uttered a few other words, the joy of his family members knew no bounds and they shared it with fellow-devotees and temple officials. The family members later told newsmen about the miracle.

Deepak, a resident of London, came to the temple along with his mother Pratima and maternal uncle Pranav and had ‘darshan’ of Shri Venkarteswara in the morning. They later went round the sub-temples, including the Vakula Mata temple where the most unexpected miracle occurred. Prathima, who hails from Delhi and is currently living in London with her husband Subash and Deepak, said her son had been dumb since birth and attributed the restoration of his speech to the Grace o f Shri Venkateswara.

Speaking to newsmen as soon as she emerged from the temple along with her son and other family members, she explained that they had taken Deepak for treatment to several speech therapy centres in London and also in Delhi since he was of four years old and added that none could help him regain his speech. “A few years ago we came to Tirumala and then took a vow to visit the holy shrine again if our son got back his speech. However, even though that did not happen we were somehow made to visit the temple today and see what God has done to our son. Well, He has His own ways of dealing with His devotees and we are extremely grateful to Him”, she said overcome with emotion.

Meanwhile, after learning about the incident, TTD Executive Officer MG Gopal also attributed it to the Grace of Shri Venkateswara — the “Shri of Miracles” — and added that HE often made the impossible possible for those who worshipped Him wholeheartedly. Later, Gopal also met the family and extended his greetings to them. “This incident once again proves that Shri Venkateswara listens to the pleadings of those who totally surrender themselves to Him. Hence, He is also known as “Apada Mokkulavadu” and Shri of Kaliyuga”, he added.

Tirumala JEO K S Sreenivasa Raju, Temple Deputy EO C Ramana and others also met the family members. As a gesture of goodwill for the ‘blessed family’, the TTD officials provided tickets to them for the ‘Suprabatham Seva’ for Sunday morning.
