Restructure NCERT and NWC : Will Modi Govt accept this Demand ?
Mumbai : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has demanded that on change of Government at the Centre, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and National Women’s Commission (NWC) should be restructured. A representation to that effect was submitted by HJS to Smt. Smruti Irani, the Union Minister for Human Resources Development and Department of Higher Education.
1. The curriculum devised by NCERT always creates controversies as sometimes, revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh are insulted by calling them as terrorists and sometimes, history of Hindu Sanskruti i.e. the most ancient culture in the world and basic traditions followed in India is presented in a distorted manner.
2. In the text book devised for 12th standard, titled ‘Bharateeya Itihas ki Moolbhoot Sankalpanaen’, it has been stated that wives of Indian Sages Gautami and Vasishthi did not exist. In ancient period, person’s ‘varna’ used to be decided based on his birth. Such misleading information has been published in this book which creates confusion and millions of students are being imbibed with wrong history. We are therefore, demanding through this representation that the matter published in textbooks distorting history should be changed with immediate effect.
3. Wrong information has been published in text book in the absence of proofs and references, only to prejudice students’ minds.
4. In the history text book for 7th standard, most of the pages out of total 154 pages have been used for giving information about Mughal and Muslim kings whereas information about the fight given by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj against the Mughals and his establishing ‘Hindvi Swaraj’, has been given only in 6 lines. It shows the intention to portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in derogatory manner.
5. In third lesson of the history text book for 7th standard titled ‘Hamare Ateet’, 15 pages have been utilized to give information on Delhi’s Sultans, their dynasties, Allauddin Khilaji, Mohammad Tughalaq etc and in glorifying them.
6. In about 13.33 % schools in India, NCERT curriculum is followed.
7. The Government should promptly look into the matter and true history of Hindustan should get an appropriate place by changing such false curriculum; else intense agitation will be staged against the same.
8. The wrong methods adopted by NCERT are causing harm to future generations of this country. Persons with patriotic, cultural and religious background should be appointed by restructuring NCERT and NWC.
