Ganesha idol, Shiva-lingam and ‘Nandi’ damaged in Bamboli

Panaji (Goa): Some unknown persons damaged the idols of Sree Ganesha, Shiva-lingam and ‘Nandi’ in Sree Shiva-Krushna temple at Bamboli in the campus of Goa Medical College. The incident occurred on 15th September when a complaint was lodged with the Agashi police; but police have not caught hold of the culprits even after 48 hours. The incident has caused tension in the area.
          
On 15th September, on the occasion of Sree Ganesha Chaturthi, ‘puja’ was performed of Sree Ganesha idol which is about 2 and a half feet in height. The temple was closed at 10.30 p.m. after performing another ‘puja’ at night. It was found that some unknown persons had broken open the door of the sanctum and damaged the idol. Police suspect that the damage was caused with a lamp. They tried to find the culprit with the help of trained dogs; but no lead could so far be found although police have assured people that the offenders would be booked soon.
