SC Stay on non-bailable arrest warrant against Hussain

Pandharpur (Maharashtra): Anti-Hindu painter M F Hussain has hurt religious sentiments of Hindus by drawing nude and obscene paintings of Hindu deities. Shri. Dwaipayan Warkhedkar, a devout Hindu from Pandharpur has filed a petition against Hussain in Criminal Court (Class I). Shri. Karande, the Magistrate had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Hussain. But the Supreme Court (SC) has issued a temporary stay order against this order and the petition. Moves are underway to shift the case to New Delhi Court.

Shri. Warkhedkar has filed a petition against Hussain even for his painting of nude ‘Bharatmata’; hearing on the same is going on at Delhi High Court. The case is, however, being stayed as the related papers are missing. (Many cases are delayed due to such reasons and people are deprived of justice – Editor). Shri. Warkhedkar had made a demand that to investigate the matter as the Court is only postponing hearing of the case by giving following dates. Shri. Warkhedkar has mentioned in a circular that Hussain has committed an offence by painting such indecent pictures of Hindu deities; but he has lot of money and has spent it to engage lawyers. Shri. Warkhedkar, however, does not have money but has the backing of Hindu Dharma. He has, therefore, appealed to people to extend financial aid for his mission of protection of Dharma.

His address is:

Shri. Dwaipayan Vyankateshacharya Warkhedkar, 9, Patrakar Nagar, Bhaktimarg, Pandharpur

Tel. No. – [02186]223850, cell phone – 9226433970

Adv. D. J. Bhosale is fighting the case for Shri. Warkhedkar under guidance from Pandit Bheemacharya Warkhedkar.
