Mumbai: Directors of the organization called ‘Khushi’ has given in writing that Hussain’s paintings have been excluded from the biggest auction to be held on 28 th October and has appealed to Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) for withdrawing its agitation.
On receiving the news of Hussain’s paintings to be put up for sale in the biggest auction of paintings at Mahalakshmi Racecourse, HJS members called on the Directors of ‘Khushi’ and organizers of the auction. A representation was submitted to them explaining the viewpoint of HJS. A copy of this protest letter was also sent to the Shiv Sena Chief, Chief Minister etc. who were to attend the program. Discussions were going on among them for the past 3 days. Shri. M.K. Vikas, one of the organizers was shown the perverted pictures drawn by Hussain and informed about the campaign started by HJS against Hussain’s denigrating paintings. Shri. Vikas, then, gave a written assurance to HJS about excluding Hussain’s paintins from the auction. Shri. Sunil Gandhi who had made the place available for the auction said that he was giving a guarantee that Hussain’s pictures were not included in the auction.
Shri. Vatkar of HJS told the members of ‘Khushi’ that they have helped in carrying out ‘Dharma-karya’ and they would not incur any loss by removing paintings by Hussain, in fact, they would earn more profit with the blessing of God and Guru. When members of ‘Khushi’ went to Tardeo police station to seek permission for the auction, police asked Shri. Vatkar whether there would be agitations by HJS. Shri. Vatkar informed the police that ‘Khushi’ has agreed to the demand of HJS and is a good organization, hence, permission could be granted.
