Crackers with pictures of deities are sold openly in markets

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) made a demand to put a ban on sale of crackers with pictures of deities. It is, however, observed that in Mumbai, such crackers are openly sold everywhere. These crackers are being burst resulting in pictures of deities are getting torn and strewn all over the place, roads causing denigration of deities. (Will devout Hindus learn from Muslims who came on the roads to agitate when name of Prophet Mohammad was printed on crackers. Why should God protect such Hindus who are indifferent towards denigration of deities? – Editor)

It has been noticed that crackers with pictures are openly sold as ‘Lakshmi Bar’ and ‘Krushna Double Bar’ in areas of Mumbai like Ghatkopar and Fort. Such crackers are, however, not found with the big distributors of crackers and are found on the road-side stalls. These crackers show their place of manufacture as ‘Shiva Kashi’. Their names are ‘Rajkumar Fireworks Factory’, Shivakashi, Sree Hari Krushna Fireworks, Shivakashi, Kala Fireworks, Sivakashi, Gyanvel Firework Factory, Shivakashi,, Selvi Firework, Shivakashi, Ayyan Firework Factory, Shivakashi, Sree Palaniappa Firework Factory, Shivakashi and others.

One packet of ‘Lakshmi-Bar’ costs about Rs. 10/- to 15/- whereas ‘Krushna Double Bar’ costs Rs. 20/-. Demand for crackers with deities’ pictures is more than the usual crackers, informed one vendor. When he was asked about the main distributor of such crackers, it was informed that he got the stock from Kurla.
