Akola: Dainik Matrubhumi from Akola carried a news on its issue of 5th November on the front page sevehjrely criticizing HJS’ activities under the heading ‘Crores of Hindus branded anti-national and heretic !’ In spite of there being a dire need of unity of the Hindus and of giving religious education to Hindus today as never before, publishing such news amounts to dividing the Hindus further. With a view to countering the arguments of the Dainik Matrubhumi’s criticism, we reproduce the said news verbatim, together with our response.

Amaravati, 4th November – The self-proclaimed Hindu Janjagruti Samiti collected a few ten-fifteen unemployed fellows and made them walk on the streets as if wandering in a garden holding placards that make no sense. With an air of a judge, HJS has blamed crores of Hindus who burst fire-crackers and branded them anti-national and heretic. This has caused widespread resentment in Hindus. (HJS is a pro-Hindu organisation. a product of various ardent Hindu organisations and their sacrifice – that works towards awakening of Righteousness and protection of nation. Within a short span of 5 years the activities of HJS reached every nook and corner of the country as also in foreign countries. It has ignited a flame of Dharma in the hearts of crores of ardent Hindus. If the placards in the hands of HJS workers don’t make any sense, it is not HJS’ fault, it is because of the reporter’s blunt intellect. It was desirable that the reporter concerned and the editor should have properly understood the fact of matter. How can the reporters and editors give direction to society if they don’t understand the mal-effects of fire-crackers and only indulge in publication of news in a partisan manner ? – Editor)
Without considering the pros and cons of the matter, HJS leveled the charges of being anti-national and anti-religious on those bursting firecrackers and thus resorted to Hindu-bashing. The HJS came into being very recently; but the firecrackers and Diwali have been traditionally going on from olden days. (Though Diwali has traditionally been going on, no religious scripture has prescribed that firecrackers should be burst during Diwali. It is traditional custom to create light by decorating houses and other structures with illuminating lamps on the night of no-moon day. However, the play of firecrackers is a custom that started during the last one hundred years with view to illuminate the sky. It has no sanction of religious scriptures ! – Editor)
