Ahemadabad (gujarat): The Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Friday showered praises on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi saying the nation should adopt his "model of taking on terrorism".
For a Chief Minister seeking return to power in the December Assembly election, the VHP president’s praise came as a shot in the arm, especially after initial reports that the VHP was not exactly enamoured with him.
Praising Modi, Singhal told reporters in New Delhi, "He is the man, who enforced tough decisions with a commitment and delivered results. Nation needs a leader like him to clip the wings of terrorists."
Siding with Modi for all he did to uproot terrorism in Gujarat, Singhal said, whatever happened after Godhra incident, was not a ‘massacre’ but a "lesson to Islam".
In his views, it is the "sense of fear" among the Muslims that helped the State Government put a check on terrorism and had not the law been taken into hands after the Godhra incident, lakhs of innocents would have been killed.
"Nobody talks about the humiliation that the Hindus faced in Jammu and Kashmir. There is always a hue and cry when something happens to a single Muslim," the VHP leader added.
On the outfit’s call for ‘unity’ among Hindu forces in the ensuing Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections, Singhal said that the fight was between the Congress run by a "foreign lady", and the BJP which talks about Hindutva, and it was felt that "foreigners should be defeated at all cost".
