Nagpur (Maharashtra): Today the Legislative Council took a decision to extend the time allotted to the Joint Committee of the Anti-faith bill 2005 to present its report, till the end of the next session of the Cabinet.
The resolution to extend the time to the committee was put forth by the Social Welfare and Law Minister of the State, Shri. Chandrakant Handore. The resolution was accepted by the Speaker Shri. Shivajirav Deshmukh.
In the name of the ‘Maharashtra Black Magic and Superstitions Bill’ an attempt is being made to destroy Hindu traditions and culture. Vehement protests against this are being made for the past three years by Hindu protagonists and vigilant representatives of people. In fact during the last session of the Legislative Council the members offered stiff opposition to this bill. According to members of the Opposition the bill also encroaches on the freedom of the individual as per the Indian constitution. Public opinion on this issue was also sought.
