Mumbai (Maharashtra): Discrimination of Hindus is being done not only in Kuala Lumpur the capital city of Malaysia but also in other parts. They are being tormented in all spheres from allotment of jobs to their temples being razed illegally. The VHP has written to the Indian High Commissioner (IHC) in a memorandum that this not only makes us angry but is also a reason for worry as Hindus are a minority there, a mere 7 % of the population.
History is testimony to the fact that India and Malaysia share excellent relations. The Hindus living there are actually Hindus taken there by the British during their regime as workers in rubber plantations. As they have lived there for three to four of their generations after Malaysia became independent in 1963 they preferred to continue living there. The government which assumed power thereafter took up the issue of protection of rights of local Hindus. However in the recent years with the spurt of extremist Muslim forces Hindus are being meted out inhuman treatment. Last month the Maha Mariamma temple at Padang Java, the seat of worship of Hindus there was demolished. The memorandum states that worldwide, broadcasting media have brought out news of how Malaysian Hindus are being denied jobs there.
Malaysia is a member of the United Nations and of the Commonwealth Nations as well. Despite that injustice is being caused to Hindus by way of not allowing them freedom to practise religion and to invest in property. This defies not only local but also international laws for citizens . As an answer to the way in which Hindus in Malaysia have been deprived of the right to practise religion and of the rights given to other citizens, the Hindu Adhikar Kruti Dal has filed a petition against this. The office bearers of this organisation who have signed this petition are protesting against the injustice caused to Hindus in Malaysia. The memorandum demands stopping of all ill-treatment to Hindus in Malaysia and giving them equal rights as other citizens. The VHP through the memorandum has warned the Malaysian government that if the Hindus there are denied their rights then they would ensure that not only their products imported by India would be boycotted but also their airline.
