Rourkela (Orissa): On a day of Christmas as many as 187 believers were today converted to Hinduism at a function organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Orissa.
Of the total 187 people, 103 were males the rest were females of 82 families were, converted to Hinduism at a religious function at Chikita village under Nuagaon block of Sundergarha district, about 45 km from here.
The conversion was dubbed as “barabartan” (home coming).
All the converted people were given a locket bearing the image of Hindu deities.
Rourkela unit of the VHP president Mitrabhanu Panda, VHP Dharma Pracharak Bibhag state organising secretary Makardhawaj Mahato and state Dharma Pracharak Secretary Gadhadhar Sahu were among others present at the function.
