No record available of ornaments and cash donated by devotees at Bhavani Devi Temple, Tuljapur

Devotees expect recovery of misappropriated funds/wealth from members of Government’s Mandir Samiti responsible for such misappropriation and stringent action is taken against them !

mahalaxmiDharashiv –  The temple of Goddess Bhavani at Shri-kshetra Tuljapur, is one of the 3 and half ‘Shakti-Pithas’ in Maharashtra. There is no record of 120 kgs of gold, 480 kgs of silver and Rs. 240 crores donated by devotees during the years 1989 to 2009 and it is suspected that there is misappropriation of funds and wealth of temple. The management of the temple is under the control of District Collector and its Tehsildar is the Secretary; besides other members as MLAs and mayor. The above news was shown on Marathi TV news channel ‘ABP Maza’.  

  1. The accounts of Mandir were audited and a secret report was prepared and submitted to Crime Investigation Department (CID). Many administrative officers have come in trouble due to this report and may be because of that, the questionnaire sent by the auditors to the Government has gone missing from office of Home Secretary.   2. A special auditors’ team from Latur prepared accounts of Shri Bhavani Devi Mandir for the period 1989 – 2009. The 348- pages report was sent to the Zonal Commissioner and forwarded to CID in August 2014.

  3. During these 20 years, lot of ornaments, diamonds, pearls emeralds donated to temple have been taken away; so also 120 kgs of gold, 480 kgs of silver and Rs. 240 crores in cash that was found missing.

  4. Chartered Accountants, who audited the accounts, have registered protest on number of occasions; but the District Collector’s office deliberately turned blind eye towards the same. (This is the adverse effect of ‘governmentalization’ of temples !- Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

  5. The temple is still managed as per the practice started by Nizam of Bhagyanagar (Hyderabad). (BJP- Shiv Sena Government should at least hand over management of temples to devotees by changing the system which reminds one of subjection.  – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)       

  6. Tenders for 5 lakhs are issued on the occasion of Navaratri festival and the contractor has to deposit money on new-moon day every month; but many shortcomings were brought forth during inquiry.

  7. It is still not clear as to who has the keys to these donation boxes.

  8. It has been claimed that the gold, silver from donation boxes is owned by the Sanstha. The representative of Mandir Sanstha deliberatey remained absent when the box under throne was to be opened.
