Police indifferent towards the issue; give phony reasons !
Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra) : The building of Municipal Corporation of Navi Mumbai has the tallest national flag in the country flying on a post at height of 222 ft. Disregarding the standards set in Code of National Flag, a closed CCTV camera has been fitted on top of this flag. Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, the Coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had written a letter to the Municipal Commissioner of Navi Mumbai, the Chief Minister and State Home Minister; but some phony reasons have been given by police; continuing such abuse of National Flag. (With such kind of police, will National Flag be given its due respect and honour in this country ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
HJS has therefore, now taken up the matter with the Central Home Ministry.
1. On 21st February 2014, Shri. Vatkar wrote a letter to the concerned persons bringing the matter of abuse of National Flag to their notice.
2. Shri. Diwakar Raote, the then MLA was apprised of the issue and he raised it during the session of State Legislative Council.
3. A reply to the letter was sent to Shri. Vatkar by Navi Mumbai police station vide letter date 29th December 2014 that was received by Shri. Vatkar on 20th January 2015. (If police take 10 months in replying to a letter about abuse of national flag by fixing CCTV cameras above National Flag, it shows the seriousness with which police considered the issue. Will such police prevent abuse of National Flag ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
4. It is written in the letter that Mayor Sagar Naik of Navi Mumbai has taken permission from the Central Government for flying such flag; therefore, no action can be taken in this connection.
5. Police have enclosed even a copy of permission taken by Naik.
6. The letter says ‘the Home Ministry is granting permission to keep this National Flag flying for 24 hours as also to replace it whenever it gets torn or damaged.’
7. The letter does not mention anything in the context of fixing CCTV camera over the Flag. (Police attitude shows lack of sincerity and one can imagine with what kind of seriousness such police must be investigating cases. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
8. HJS has once again written to the State Home Ministry, Police Commissioner and Central Home Ministry on 24th January 2015 demanding to stop abuse of National Flag by removing CCTV camera.
9. Citizens of this country expect that the patriotic coalition Government would stop abuse of National Flag on the occasion of this Republic Day.
