Outcome of HJS petition

Nashik (Maharashtra) : ‘Simhastha Parva’, which has thousands of years of tradition, is an important and cultural legacy of Hindu Dharma. Many Saints and Seers undertaking penance in different forests and at places of pilgrimage come together on this occasion.

‘Simhastha Parva’ is celebrated at Nashik in every 12th year; which is to start in few months. Even then, the Government has been indifferent towards making preparations for this ‘Parva’; therefore, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) filed a petition in Mumbai High Court. The High Court has admonished the State Government; therefore, it has woken up and started making preparations for ‘Simhastha Parva’. Before providing various basic amenities for ‘Sadhu-gram’, it is expected that the Government would first requisition necessary land for setting up ‘Sadhu-gram’.

The State Government was, however, working at snail’s pace; but due to petition filed by HJS, the Government has now started the process of requisition of land.

Process to requisition 145 acres of land from 102 farmers has started and this land will be promptly handed over to Nashik Municipal Corporation. In case of other 91 farmers for requisitioning 124 acres of land, the process has not been started due to some technical reasons; but soon the process would be started to requisition necessary land, informed Tehsildar Rathod.
