It is an injustice to journalism: H.H. Joshi Baba

Mumbai: We give below reaction of H. H. Joshi Baba, a saint from Ghatkopar, Mumbai on the legal action taken by Miraj police based on a complaint lodged by a district chief of Republican Party of India against a Marathi word ‘Dhedgujari’ used in an article published in special ‘surajya’ issue of ‘Weekly Sanatan Prabhat’.

“The word has not been used in ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ against any caste or section of people as such religious sentiments have not been hurt. The word is not used in the context of any particular caste but is used to connote a mixture or combination of things. Those, who claim of getting their religious sentiments hurt, should try to understand views of ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ on that subject and clear their misunderstanding.

A journalist does not express his individual views; but he is a representative of society. He puts forth reactions of people on particular subject without any selfish gains; therefore, the party leading a section of people or organization should not harass people and journalists in such manner as it would be injustice to journalism and nobody would come forward to write about social problems. RPI should, therefore, try to solve the issue amicably and peacefully and render apology to ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ for misconstruing their feelings.
