Malang-gad (Maharashtra, Kalyan)
Kalyan (Maharashtra): Hindus visited the tomb of Sree Macchindranath, the incarnation of Navanath, on Malang–gad in large numbers. The ‘Palakhi-sohala’ was attended by many saints and devotees. The tomb was smeared with sandalwood paste. There is a dispute between Hindus and Muslims about the management of the tomb-temple of Sree Machhindranath although it is worshipped by Hindus for the past so many years. The issue becomes very sensitive during the celebrations; but even in such situation, H. H. Dharmacharya Yogiraj Bhainath Maharaj motivated local Hindus to celebrate the ‘palakhi sohala’. The celebration was carried out in peaceful manner. H. H. Maharaj suggested that Hindus should be granted permission to perform ‘aarati’ on ‘full moon day’ every month. (Muslims have captured many Hindu temples or have encroached upon their lands. Sree Malang Baba’s tomb is one such place of worship. Hindus must follow the example of H. H. Bhainath Maharaj for creating awareness among Hindus towards their Dharma – Editor)
H. H. Maharaj raised acclaimation as ‘Jai Sree Malangbaba!’ instead of ‘Haji Malang Baba’. Three days prior to the celebration, H. H. Maharaj met people residing at the foot of Malang-gad. ‘Dharma-dhvajas’ were hoisted on the temples in villages near Malang-gad. He continuosly appealed to Hindus to participate in the ‘palakhi-sohala’. In this area, it is not possible for Hindus to even put frames of Hindu deities. (Pakistan in India ! In India, there are many such small Pakistans. We need to revolt against such secular Government responsible for such situation – Editor). H. H. Maharaj distributed 8000 pictures of Sree Malang Baba to Hindus. The bell was removed from the ancient Shiva temple at the foot of the hill about 5 years ago. It was re-installed by H. H. Maharaj and he performed ‘aarati’ by ringing the bell after which the ‘palakhi sohala’ began. ‘Aarati’ was performed in Datta Mandir, Sree Bhavanidevi Mandir and Sree Ambadevi Mandir on the route of ‘palakhi’; ‘Maha-aarati’ was performed at midnight before the tomb of Malang Baba and chanting of ‘Rama’ was done. Many members of VHP and Bajarang Dal participated in the ‘palakhi sohala’. At Kalyan- Dombivali, municipal councilors of BJP and Shiv Sena extended cooperation. H. H. Maharaj acknowledged the cooperation extended by the police for this ‘palakhi sohala’.
