Mumbai (Maharashtra): An image is used on Rediff.com as rediff avtar under the title ‘Who do you wanna be today?’ Choose an avatar that expresses your mood, style and personality. And there’s no limit to how many times you can give it a spin!’ which depicts a sage who is in meditation and starts winking with his eyes side ways. This is an attempt to insult the founding forefathers of our country who taught us the teachings of Sanatan Dharma! The image is very disrespectful and insensitive. (Will Rediff Website Owner dare to insult religious sentiments of other religions like this! Hindus awaken; see how Hindu religion is being insulted! Hindus around the globe must protest against it! – Editor)

To whom it may concern
 
I have come accross a gif image which is used as an avtar in this link in your website : http://www.rediffiland.com/scripts/avatar.php. which depicts a sage who is in meditation and starts winking with his eyes side ways. This is a blatant attempt to insult the founding forefathers of this country who were great sages like Sage Vyas based on whose teachings the great Sanatan Dharma was formed. You can pick some thing else to make your site funny but not at the expense of hurting religious sentiments of others. Your depiction of this image has been very disrespectful, insensitive and also has shown your site as ignorant to others sentiments.
 
I request you to kindly remove this avtar from your site and apologise for hurting these sentiments of others. If this email is not followed up by action from your end, i will create a mass awareness of this issue and about your site to expose your insensitiveness.
 
I have attached the picture of the avtar I am talking about.
 
A proud Hindu and staunch beleive in our Sanatan Dharma.
