Pandharpur (Maharashtra): The case against Hindu basher painter Maqbul Fida Hussain for hurting religious feelings of millions of Hindus by drawing nude pictures of Hindu Deities came up for hearing in high court here today. Pandit Beemacharya Varkhedkar and government pleader Shri. Gopal Subramanyam pleaded on behalf of the petitioner Shri. Dwaipayan Varkhedkar. The union minister Advocate Kapil Sibbal will plead the case on behalf of M.F. Husain on Friday. (By taking the brief of the Hindu hater painter, the Congress MP Shri. Sibbal has proved that he has scant respect for the religious feelings of the Hindus. What right does such MPs have to contest for the MP’s post in a Hindu dominated nation? – Editor)
The hearing took place before the bench of justice Shri. Sanjay Kishan Kaul and arguments were made on the issue whether the case should be heard or dismissed. The petitioner argued that the suit was filed against Husain in Pandharpur in Maharashtra. The case was transferred to Delhi and thereafter in to metropolitan court. During all entire course of proceedings, the convenience of the accused was taken into account and not of the petitioner. The government pleader explained that Hussain’s request to cancel the case was against the ethics of judiciary. The next hearing is slated on Friday, April 4, 2008.
