Chaitra Shuddha Panchami
Mumbai (Maharashtra): Home minister, Shri. R.R. Patil today replied to yesterday’s angry discussion on law and order situation in the Assembly. However, during his entire speech, he avoided addressing the issue of arrest of the notorious painter, M.F. Hussain. BJP’s senior leader Shri. Eknath Khadse again pressed for an answer from the government and expressed his strong feelings on the issue; but the home minister chose to evade the subject by giving elusive replies. (How can the Home Minister of anti-religious Congress ever give answer on the issue of insult to objects of faith of Hindus? Hindus should learn from the behaviour of Congress leaders how extremely pro-Muslims they are and should start making preparations now itself for teaching the Congress a lesson in the forthcoming elections! – Editor)
Yesterday BJP’s leader Shri. Gopinath Munde had raised the issue of nude pictures of Hindu Deities drawn by Husain and demanded his immediate arrest. Today MLA Shri. Eknath Khadse against brought to the notice of the government the seriousness of the issue, saying, "Just as Hussain had drawn nude pictures of the sacred rivers like the Ganga, Yamuna etc., why does he not draw a nude picture of his own mother? It is surprising that even after drawing nude pictures of our Deities, he is roaming free with immunity. What action are you going to take against him? The website ‘Orkut’ has also published derogatory and obscene matter about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. What action are you going to take against the website?"
Shri. Patil replied, "It is not proper that the religious feelings of the followers of any religions are hurt in Maharashtra. If any one tries to do so, we will take action against him.” There are police cases filed against Shri. Husain in police stations. ‘Orkut’ being an international website, the state government has no powers to take action against it. We shall ask the union government to take action in this regard. We will appoint a committee of experts to examine the matter relating to ‘Orkut’ and will present its report to the Centre. (Such vague answers are nothing but delaying tactics by the government! – Editor)
