Devrukh (Maharashtra): The Hindu Dharmajagruti Sabha held in Devrukh on April 18, 2008, a hamlet at the foot of Sahyadri mountains was a resounding success. It was in the valleys of Sahyadri that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chharapati Sambhajiraje had brought the Mughals to their knees. The ardent Hindus resolved in the Sabha to repeat history and give a befitting reply to the heretics and anti-Hindu elements who are out to cause damage to Hindu dharma.

The Sabha commenced with lighting of a lamp at the auspicious hands of H.B.P. Vasant Redis Maharaj and reciting of mantras by a group of priests from Sree Ganesh Ved Pathshala of Devrukh. Present on the dais were Shri. Ramesh Shinde, spokesperson for Western Bharat of HJS; Shri. Rajan Kapadi of Shiv Sena who is the speaker of Zilla Parishad’s construction committee; Dr. Narendra Date of Sanatan Sanstha; Shri. Jayant Desai of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Shri. Vinay Panvalkar of Dharmashakti Sena. The Sabha was attended by a 2000 – strong audience.

Addressing the Sabha, Shri. Jayant Desai of VHP said, "Our Hindu dharma is ancient. The impressions of religious scriptures on our mind can never be wiped out. After independence, no one has done anything for the Hindus. The government is run on the whims and fancies of the minorities. The laws like temple takeover law that jeopardize Hindu interests must be prevented. We need the assistance of the rulers to strengthen our dharma."
