Nainital : Tension enveloped Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district on Saturday evening when a temple idol was found desecrated by officials. Forensic teams along with dog squads scanned the temple and its adjoining area, and police officials claimed that they had rounded up a number of people for questioning. “No one is allowed to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. Whoever is responsible for all this will be behind bars soon,” said Nilesh Anand Bharney, senior superintendent of police, Udham Singh Nagar.
In a separate incident on Sunday, animal body parts were found strewn at a government school in Rudrapur. Reacting to the two incidents, leaders of local right-wing outfits held protests against the district police and administration and shouted slogans outside their offices. Rajkumar Dugral, BJP MLA from Rudrapur said, “We have given an ultimatum to the district police and administration till 10am on Monday to solve the cases. If they fail to catch the culprits by then, we will take out protest marches against their inaction.”
