• District Collectors from other places should keep Kolhapur District Collector as ideal before them !
Kolhapur (Maharashtra) : It is the duty of every citizen to maintain honour of national flag. The Government has imposed ban on use of plastic national flags on 1st May, Maharashtra Day. District Collector, Dr. Amit Saini has made an appeal to people to refrain from using plastic national flags and prevent their abuse.
1. Reference is made to circular dated 22nd April 2015 issued by the Home Department which says that plastic national flags should not be used on Republic Day, Independence Day, Maharashtra Day and even on other occasions.
2. After programs held to celebrate such occasions, national flags are found strewn all over the place resulting in their insult.
3. It is an offence as per the National Flag Code of India.
4. After use, national flags may be either properly immersed or destroyed; else action will be taken as per clause 2 of Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
