Sadhus to clean Ganga in Varanasi

Varanasi: Now mendicants and religious leaders have decided to offer ‘shramdan’ (voluntary labour) to clean up the Ganga in Varanasi. (If Sadhus are needed to clean Ganga, then what is the role of Cleaning Department of Municipal Corporation in Varanasi? – Editor)

Under the leadership of Swami Avimukteshwaranad, a representative of Shankaracharya of Jyotis and Sharda-Dwarka Peeth Swami, Swarupanand Saraswati, they would start offering ‘shramdan’ in Varanasi from May 26.

They would start the campaign from Kedar Ghat, said the officials of peeth. On the first day, they would offer ‘shramdan’ at Vijyanagramghat, Bhumaghatm Shankaracharya Ghat and Lalita Ghat and remove debris and garbage.
