Pandharpur (Maharashtra): "People come together in large numbers for anything to do with their castes but not for their Dharma. We are only loyal to the caste we are born into but not to our Dharma. Due to such attitude, ‘Dharma-sabhas’ are required to be held to create awareness among Hindus towards their Dharma. I shall inform people about this sabha in my lectures to be held recently at Sawarkar Library. Hindu Dharma is under attack but nobody is even opposing these assaults. One who is fighting is doing it single handedly. It is therefore, necessary to unite Hindus. In view of the above, people should come together and attend ‘Dharma jagruti Sabha’.

”The above appeal was made by Bhagavatacharya, H.B.P. V. N. Utpaat in a meeting held to make planning of the sabha. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti will be holding a public meeting on 2nd June at Gajanan Maharaj Mutt grounds and a preliminary planning meeting was held recently. Shri. Utpaat said further that all Hindu Organizations and those supposed to be champions of Hindu Dharma are more interested in their Sects and castes. They should realize that no government or administration would come forward to help Hindus. Hindus need to be self sufficient and increase their strength.

Shri. Mahesh Utpaat of ‘Vaidik Dharma – sanrakshak Sangh’ demanded that Hindu temples should be managed by only Hindus. The Government’s move to take over management of temples should be strongly opposed. Shri. Appasaheb Sangolkar of Sanatan Sanstha offered members of his Sanstha to make ‘prasar’ of the meeting and all possible cooperation. Shri. Vivek Benare, city-president of Hindu Mahasabha said that problems faced by local temples should also be included in the campaign against Government take over of Hindu temples. Anti-Hindu organizations have been constantly criticizing Dharma. Hindus must unite and fight against the criticism.

Even after independence, Hindus are still in bondage. Shri. Dwaipayan Varkhedkar, a staunch Hindu and journalist also assured to extend all possible help. Dr. Kashid explained about attacks on Dharma and why organizations like HJS are required. The meetings started with prayers to Lord Sree Ganesha.

Hindus attending the preparatory meeting resolved for successful organization of the sabha.
