Swami Narendranand Saraswati

Thane (Maharashtra) : Shankaracharya Narendrananda Saraswati today hailed the decision of Maharashtra government to extend ban on cow slaughter to bulls and bullocks in the state.

Saraswati told reporters here today that he welcomes the decision as more than 12 crore cows were being slaughtered in the entire country every year which needed to be stopped.

He said the ban on bulls and bullocks slaughter will increase the production of milk which will in turn help feed children in the country.

To a query related to upcoming Kumbh Mela in Nashik district, Saraswati said a number of devotees are expected to visit the Mela at Trimbakeshwar.

“The Juna Akhada is making all preparations for the ‘Shahi Snan’,” he added.
