Vaidus (Hindus) refused to embrace Buddhism

In the meeting held on behalf of Maharashtra Vaidu Community, a resolution was passed unanimously that Vaidu community has been living as Hindus and henceforth will live only as Hindus. This was announced by Shri Ramesh Varngate, the District-President and Shri Govind Shirke, the Secretary of the Organization through a press release. Shri Mane had made an appeal to the nomadic to adopt Buddhism. A meeting was therefore, held to discuss the issue at Shri Durgamata Temple. Including the office bearers, about 125 persons attended the meeting. After discussions on the conversion issue, it was decided to oppose any move to convert to other religion. It was also decided that the opinion expressed by Shri Mane does not need serious consideration. The Vaidus are born as Hindus and will even die as Hindus. The Vaidu community therefore, can not ever think of leaving Hinduism. In fact, it was appealed to the members of the Vaidu community not to convert to Buddhism.
