Jyeshtha Krushna Navami
Kepe (Goa): Few unknown persons damaged the idols of ‘Nandi’, ‘Nava-graha’ and ‘Tulsi’ in Sree Someshwar temple. It may be noted that the miscreants did not touch donation box and bell. It indicates that their only aim was to damage the idols. (As the donation box has not been touched, police can not give their usual excuse that such act must be of some mentally deranged person or a thief. We all know who are the people involved in damaging idols. If police try to find out with the above perception in mind, they might find some clue, else, like in last 5 years, they have not been able to trace any culprits, even in this case, the culprit may go scot-free! – Editor)
As per the police source from Kepe, Shri. Pauskar, the priest of Someshwar temple first noticed that ears and horns of ‘Nandi’ were cut. He then noticed that the idols of ‘Navagraha’ were also damaged and its parts were thrown every where; even the ‘Tulsi’ plant in the hall was damaged.
The main sanctum was locked and the hall was open. The incident has occurred after 8.30 p.m. as the temple was closed; besides, something heavy must have been used to break the idols. Police carried out investigations with the help of finger prints expert and dog squad; but they have not yet found any clue. As per police sources, temple management was advised to keep security as there were incidents of theft; but the management did not pay attention. (It is a matter of shame that Hindu temples need security against threat received from idol-breakers. It also indicates that Hindu deities are not safe in this secular country. It is a sign of threat to Hindus and Hindu Dharma; but philosopher like Shri. Vidyadhar Gadgil, who calls himself secular, alleges that organizations like Sanatan Sanstha and HJS are unnecessarily making fuss over dangers to Hindu Dharma and creating disharmony in society. What such secular people have to say about the above incident? – Editor)
Condemn incident of damage to idols; arrest the culprits immediately – Shri. Jayesh Thali, HJS
HJS condemns this incident. The Government should arrest the culprit at the earliest and punish him severely. Incidents of idol breaking are on the rise in Goa and are condemned. The Government should take stringent action to stop such incidents so that such damage can be prevented in future. The above demand was made by Shri. Jayesh Thali, Coordinator of HJS for Goa.
