Beed (Maharashtra): Solapur Zilha Parishada has used Sree Vitthal, most revered deity in Maharashtra for advertising its campaign of diarrhea- free villages. Thus, the Government has hurt religious sentiments of thousands of warakaris, devotees and Hindu brethren. Devout Hindus from Beed, under the leadership of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, submitted a representation to the dy. District Collector for protesting against the Government and demanding action against the concerned.

In the advertisement for diarrhea –free villages prepared by Solapur Zilha Parishada, picture of Sree Vitthal has been printed. There are toilets and latrines shown all around it thus hurting religious sentiments of Hindus. In this connection, ‘Dainik Tarun Bharat’ in its issue dated 20th May 2008, has published the news and pointed out the mistake. But no action has been taken by the Government. Many devotees and warakaris also brought the mistake to the notice of the district collector still no effect on the Government.

Warakaris and Hindus have therefore, warned the Government to start state-wide agitation against Government indifference. As a part of this agitation, a representation was submitted to Shri. Shelake, dy. District Collector by devout Hindus from Beed, demanding immediate withdrawal of the circular. HJS submits representation to District Officer at Nanded to withdraw the posters and take action against the concerned !

Nanded (Maharashtra): Solapur Zilha Parishad has used picture of Lord Vitthal, worshipped by all Hindus, in their cleanliness drive. (We condemn Solapur Zilha parishad for making use of Lord Vitthal in its advertisement on cleanliness drive. Isn’t there a single devout Hindu member who could have protested against using the picture – Editor) This incident has hurt religious sentiments of Hindus. A representation was submitted to the District Collector to withdraw the advertisement and file a case against the concerned. It has been mentioned in the representation that in the advertisement of its drive on eradication of diarrhea from the district, picture of Lord Vitthal has been drawn. Religious sentiments of all Hindus and Warakaris have been hurt due to such advertisement and Solapur District Parishada must therefore, withdraw the same and render public apology to all Hindus and Warakaris.

Highlights

Many devout Hindus have called up District Parishad’s office and expressed their protest against the poster for hurting their religious sentiments. (We need such devout Hindus ! – Editor)
