Pastoral Perversions: Yet another Episode of Child Sex Abuse in Kerala’s Christian Congregation

Kottayam: The sexually perverted Christian priest has struck against, this time under the guise of treatment and relief from diseases, from the Pentecostal Church of God. The pastor Biju Sam, was arrested from Wadakkanchery and has been accused of sexually assaulting women. With the pastoral misdeeds being exposed, it has come to light that the transgressions are not of solitary nature, but are aided by other members of the congregation. The prime accused, hailing from Vazhoor, Kottayam has been arrested of sexually exploiting minor girls.

According to sources, “the pastor would invite minor girls to his private chambers and there after display pornographic content. One of the victims, a resident of Arumurikada was alone in her home, when the pastor visited the place under the pretext of offering lessons in Bible. He is said to have displayed a slew of pornographic material on his laptop and seduced the girl and raped her. Later, he threatened the girl of dire consequence if she disclosed the matter to her family.”

Sources have disclosed that “the girl fell into deep depression following the incident, going to the extent of affecting her studies as well. This aroused suspicions of her teacher, who questioned her gently, which led to the truth being revealed.”

It has been reported that school authorities have filed a complaint with Child Welfare to Ezhukon police, after informing the victim’s parents, following which Biju Sam was arrested. Police are investigating whether there are other cases of sex abuse against Pastor Sam. He has been remanded after appearing in Kollam Section’s Court.
