VHP call for nation-wide agitation on 13th

New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad today dismissed the Centre’s initiatives to end the Amarnath land row as a "futile" exercise saying this would not fructify unless there is a "talk to restore land" to Amarnath Shrine Board.
"The all-party meet recently convened by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is an insult to the majority Hindu community of the country as the resolution had no mention of the giving back of the land," VHP leader Praveen Togadia told PTI.

The Hindu outfit called for a nationwide road blockade on August 13.

"The agitation is not restricted to Jammu alone. The nation would come to standstill on August 13", Togadia claimed.

He said Hindu organisations feel that the all-party delegation to Jammu and Kashmir Valley is "bound to be a failure." "The delegation is bound to be a failure with parties like PDP, NC and Samajwadi Party on board. Do you think that with anti-Hindu parties like CPI and CPI(M), one can have a solution to the Amarnath issue?" he claimed.

He said the decision by BJP to join the delegation and to attend the all-party meet is an "internal decision of the party" and "VHP would not like to comment" on it.

Togadia also objected to the use of "army against the nationalist protestors." "The UPA government is using army to fulfill its political agenda. You cannot pitch the army against the nationalist demonstrators. We object to such actions," he said.
