Shri Vitthal – Rukmini Mandir Samiti bows before Warkaris’ agitation !

• Daily ritualistic worship of Shri Vitthal to be re-started !

• Send the responsible persons from the Government’s temple committee for causing ‘Dharma-hani’ by discontinuing daily rituals, to jail; even if the daily rituals are to be re-started now !

Pandharpur (Maharashtra) : From 17th June, ‘darshan’ of Shri Vitthal for 24 hours was allowed on the occasion of ‘Adhik Maas’; by discontinuing daily rituals of the Deity. All Warkari Organizations and ‘Hindutvavadis’ strongly opposed discontinuation of daily rituals and submitted representations to that effect on 22nd and 24th June 2015. Then, on 26th June, a call for ‘Pandharpur Bandh’ was given and Warkaris also met Shri. Vijaykumar Deshmukh, the Guardian Minister, in connection with continuation of daily rituals. H.B.P. Shriramkrushna Veer, the President of ‘Warkari Sampradaya Paeek Sangh’ appealed the State Chief Minister to look into the matter.

As a result, District Collector and the Chairman of Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Temple Committee, Tukaram Mundhe made announcement on 28th June, of withdrawal of his decision of keeping the temple open for 24 hours for ‘darshan’ and re-starting daily rituals with effect from 2nd July 2015.

Temple Committee should set up a coordination committee for taking decision on religious matters ! – H.B.P. Shriramkrushna Maharaj Veer

We welcome the decision taken by Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir Samiti. It is the victory of unity among Warkaris, pro-Hindu organizations and intense ‘Hindutvavadi’ periodicals like ‘Sanatan Prabhat’. We want to thank all those who joined this agitation and specially ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat’ for creating awareness amongst people. We, however, make an appeal to Mandir Samiti that such mistake in taking decision on religious matters should not recur in future. A coordination committee of Warkaris, ‘Hindutvavadi’ organizations and Mandir Samiti may be appointed to avoid such incidents of strife.
