<p><strong>Panaji (Goa): </strong>"Henceforth, damage to idols of Hindu deities will not be tolerated," was the serious warning given by ‘Akhil Goa Mandir Suraksha Samiti (AGMSS)’ in a grand meeting held at Gomantak Maratha Samaj Hall. The meeting was held in view of the incidents of idol damage in different temples in Goa. In this state-level meeting, more than 1000 devout Hindus participated including office bearers of different pilgrimages, holy places, priests, devotees and staunch Hindus.    <br />     <br />H. H. Brahmeshananda Swami of Padmanabha Sampradaya from Tapobhumi, Kundai, Shri. Sudesh Naik, its treasurer, Shri. Sharadrao Dhole, Western India ‘Dharma-jagaran’ chief of RSS, Prof. Anil Samant, Shri. Vinayak Chyari, security coordinator of AGMSS and Shri. Rajendra Welingkar, Dr. Pandurang Marathe, Sanatan seeker etc. shared the dais.    </p>
<p>The meeting started with recitation of <a href=Sree Ganesha stavan followed with lighting of a lamp at the hands of dignitaries present on the dais.

Representaion to be submitted to the State Governor demanding prevention of idol-breaking incidents was signed by about 384 devout Hindus. (Followers of other religions would have gathered in thousands had there been desecration of objects of their wporship; but there were signatures of only 384 devout Hindus in a country supposed to have Hindus in majority. Hindus must give up such shamelessness and indifference – Editor)

It is essential to continue fight for protection of Hinduism under the guidance of saints – Prof. Anil Samant

There are instances of British attacking our temples in history. It was their motive to keep Hindus in bondage. Today, similar situation has arisen and therefore, it is necessary to continue the fight against attacks on Hinduism under the guidance of saints. Whole of India and consequently Goa needs to be based on spiritualism. I am sure that all those present here have carried a stone which will help us in building a big temple.

A bang on  temple is like a bang on our life – Sharadrao Dhole

In a period of 200 years, Portuguese destroyed about 450 temples in Goa. Out of which 300 temples were re-constructed. Nowadays, in Goa, there have been incidents of damaging idols. A bang on temple is like a bang on our life. The safety of temples depends upon the type of citizens. The more we are strong about identity of our idols, better is the safety of the idol in temple. It is necessary for temples to become centres of awakening for people. If somebody calls you as a fundamentalist while carrying on activities related to Dharma, one should ignore them and continue their work. It is necessary to work together for destruction of evil and protection of righteous people.  The current period is good for Hinduism for its progress on one hand and difficult for Hindus on the other hand.

Many Hindu saints are receiving very good response in outside countries. Forigners are getting attracted to Hinduism; but it is necessary that everyone fights for protection of Dharma in the present difficult times for Hinduism. In this battle, one can either achieve success or one may have to give up life. If one does have to die fighting for Dharma, he will attain liberation.

Plan prepared for protection of temples! – Rajendra Welingkar

AGMSS will work with people from every strata of society to curb the despicable chain of attacks on Hindu deities and it will give an expansive form to this work. AGMSS has prepared an action plan for protection of temples. It is going to bring together all the youth members. For protection of temples, there is also a plan to collect all such weapons that are allowed by law and perform their ‘puja’ on the day of ‘Vijay-dashami’. AGMSS will work with 5 point agenda viz. service, safety, Sanskrut, Sanskar and yoga. A list of temples in Goa will be prepared. An appeal is made to all Hindus to unite for this mission.
