Discussion sessions are being held by mass media about dancing and behavior of Radhe Ma (original name Sukhvindar kaur) for past few days. She claims to be incarnation of a Goddess. After considering following points, anyone will realize that her dancing and behavior is not like a Saint.

1. Understand spiritual practice (sadhana) through dancing in Hindu Dharma !

A. Hindu Dharma advocates God realization or attaining Sainthood by undertaking spiritual practice as per 14 types of science and 64 types of arts.

B. Dance is one of the 64 arts by practicing of which God realization is possible. When dance is performed with the ‘bhav (spiritual emotion)’ that it is done for God, it becomes a kind of spiritual practice.

C. There are different types of Indian classical dance like ‘Bharatnatyam’, ‘Kathakali’, ‘Kathak’, ‘Kuchipudi’, ‘Manipuri (Raas-nrutya)’, ‘Mohiniattam (Semi-classical dance)’ which help to increase ‘Sattva’ component, when practiced.

Nowadays, dances performed on the tunes of film songs, do not fall in category of classical dance but they emanate ‘Raja-Tama’ components and cannot be considered as kind of ‘sadhana’.

D. Through meditation, a ‘Dhyan-yogi’ establishes communion with God. Similarly, while dancing, as means of ‘sadhana’, creates communion with God. Gopis had danced with ShriKrushna which is known as ‘Raas-kreeda’ and had created a very high level communion with Him. A seeker gets spiritual experiences on looking at ‘Dhyan-yogi’ when he is meditating; similarly, when dance is performed as ‘sadhana’, a devotee gets spiritual experiences by watching such dance.

F. ‘Nrutya-sadhana’ is a kind of individual (vyashti) spiritual practice and is not meant for ‘samashti (for society/ collective)’ spiritual practice.

G. One, who teaches such ‘Nrutya-sadhana’, should have good spiritual level.

2. Dance by Saints and by Radhe Ma

A. Saints have very high level of ‘bhav’ while dancing. Radhe Ma is however, not in such ‘bhav’ while dancing.

B. Saints dance only on devotional songs; but Radhe Ma dances even on tune of film songs.

C. Saints do not dance for devotees; but try for spiritual progress of devotees. Spiritual upliftment of devotees is real goal of Saints. Radhe Ma, however, does not give spiritual guidance to her followers but dances for them.
