Dombivali (Maharashtra): The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) submitted a memorandum to Shri. Harishchandra Patil, BJP MLA of the Kalyan Vidhansabha constituency in connection with the desecration of Hindu deities and national heroes occurring due to printing of their pictures on fire crackers demanding a ban on their production and sale. At this time, Shri. Patil raised the question, "If the pictures of deities and national heroes can be printed on fire crackers, then why is the picture of mosques not printed on them?"

He further said that, desecration of deities and national heroes that occurs due to their trampling of their pictures on the streets after such fire crackers are burst must be stopped in any case. To achieve this, an appeal should be made to the manufacturers as also the buyers. There are pictures related to many other things other than deities and national heroes that can be printed on crackers. We need to keep a watch on the manufacturers of fire crackers in order to stop this denigration. If need be, we should also stage a mass agitation for this. I shall lead such an agitation. Apart from the big companies, crackers are manufactured by small companies at Shahapur also. We should meet them and educate them about this desecration. If such crackers come to the market for sale, then suitable
action should be taken.

Members of the HJS informed Shri. Patil that, the HJS has been demanding a ban on such crackers for the last 5 years through submission of memorandums to the State Government, District Collector and the police. As a result of this, last year, the Directorate of Industries had issued letters to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the Joint Registrar of the ‘Trade Mark Division’ (Commercial Symbols Section) to take further action in this regard. A copy of the above letter was also given to Shri. Patil. Shri. Ajay Sambhus of HJS and Shri. Sudhanshu Joshi, reporter of Dainik Sanatan Prabhat were present at this time.
