Worldwide Hindus welcome land allotment for Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi

Rajan-Zed-2010_320Worldwide Hindus have thanked United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Abu Dhabi governments for reported announcement of land allotment for first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, commending the reported decision of land allotment for Hindu temple, described it as a step in the positive direction.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, thanking Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for land allotment for Hindu temple, urged him to allot some funds also for its construction.

Rajan Zed also urged other UAE emirates—Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, Umm al-Quwain—to allot lands for Hindu temples so that large number of Hindu expatriates could have a place to worship, hold festivals and cultural events, socialize, etc.

Indian expatriates, numbering about 2.6 million, comprise about 28% of UAE’s population. Dubai already has two Hindu temples—Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva.
